CONSTRUCTION: FILM MAGAZINE FIRST & SECOND DRAF

Today I started creating my film magazine for my film production 'Broken Dreams' I feel as though this first draft has ups and downs, however it is only a first draft and is easily changeable if needs be. However I feel as though the majority of the magazine is so far successful. I decided to keep the background the same as the film poster as well as the photograph of the protagonist as I feel as though it was really successful in the film poster. My film magazine is heavily influenced from a series of other professional film magazines that have been created in the past.

I felt as though the slogan written in the middle of the first draft turned out to be rather unsuccessful so I have used several magazines that I have viewed before and implanted a film strip with the latest TV Shows and movies on it in order for the audience to learn the recent movies that are coming out soon. It also gives the magazine that extra bit of colour and detail which I feel is crucial when making a film poster. I also lowered the opacity of the background of the splash, this was done intentionally so too take away some of the attention from that area, I feel as though its was too bright for its function therefore I lowered the opacity and brightness of it. I also deleted the interview section of the magazine cover, as I feel as though it looked out of place and unusual, therefore I decided to delete it and think of another option.

CONSTRUCTION: PROPS

In order to improve the realism of the mise en scene of the trailer, I decided to create a small prop for the physiotherapist. I created a small card that will be put onto a lanyard. This is important as it gives a stronger understanding for the viewer of the set. Here is the small card that will be put onto a lanyard that will be placed around the physio's neck on the film.

RESEARCH: VOICEOVERS AND SCREEN CAPTURES

In order for my trailer to be successful, I feel as though it requires a voiceover. Therefore I decided to research and teach myself into how to capture a screen recording while being able to talk over it as a voiceover. I did this research so that it allows me to potentially create a voiceover while recording the movie so that the timing of the voiceover is near perfect.

CONSTRUCTION: INTERTITLES

Today I started to form my inter titles for my trailer, I constructed the inter-titles using the software Adobe After Effects. I chose this software as this software is an effective and easy way of creating professional inter titles and more

This screenshot shows the development of the font that I had chosen as well as the movement of the words so that it creates an impressive look to it.

This Screenshot presents the background preset I have imported into the clip, this allows the inter title to have an overall increased aesthetically pleasing design, as a plane black background would appeal to the audience.

This video presents the one of many inter-titles that I created on Adobe After Effects for my production. After experimenting with the software, I found myself slightly altering the initial design for my inter titles, however I feel as though they now look more appealing to the eye, therefore engaging the audience more effectively. I feel as though this inter title is very cinematic which was what I was attempting to achieve. This was due to the fact that my film trailer is going to be relatively dramatic, therefore I want this to be portrayed in my inter titles as well.

PLANNING: FILM MAGAZINE

These are all screenshots of magazines in which I would aim for my magazine to look at. Having one human as a focal point is the way I want to go with my magazine, as it allows the audience to learn the protagonist's role in the film. This is done by looking at what the protagonist is wearing and props. My favourite magazine cover of these options is the inception cover. I like how the magazine is organised and it gives off an aesthetically pleasing effect.

CONSTRUCTION: MOVIE POSTER FIRST DRAFT

This is the first draft of my film poster for Broken Dreams.

My inspiration for the aesthetics of my film poster was from the Manchester United 2017 calendar, here is the inspiration:
