MY TREATMENT
A promising young English footballer called Alfie Wolstenholme who has been dubbed to be the next Ronaldo, receives trial offers from several clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus. He is on trial in a football match at Chelsea and suddenly breaks his leg in two places. He is rushed to hospital and is told he's never going to be able to play football again. Whilst going through rehab he falls in love with the physio and his health starts to rapidly improve. He starts to realise his dream is coming back into the mix and it's only just around the corner. The twist in the narrative is that the physio is also facing her own challenges as she is being undermined by the team manager and as a result she develops a stutter that puts he job at risk. With Alfie's help she over comes the stutter and the film closes with the physio brining in a letter revealing that Alfie has been offered a contract at Chelsea.
TOP LINE AND BIG QUESTION
When thinking about what the top line and big question should be, it is useful to think about a previous book or movie that you have recently watched. This allowed me to come up with a top line and a big question for my film production.
Top Line: Alfie Wolstenholme, a talented young footballer is about to take part in a make or break match for his footballing career, but he faces a serious problem when breaking his leg halfway into the trial.
Big Question: Will Wolstenholme return from this career ending injury and battle hard for his career or will his injury effect his life forever?

WHAT IS A FILM TRAILER?
The purpose of a film treatment is in order to describe the basis and the plot of the film in present tense. The language used in the treatment tends to be easily understandable however it must be forceful and informative. The main reason towards why a film treatment exists, is because it allows the description of the film to come to life and to build a mental image of how the film will look.
HOW DO YOU WRITE A FILM TRAILER
When creating a treatment you need to be to avert from using editorial writing and write in the present tense. It is also important not to tell the audience what they see without using the words 'We See'.
Example of what to say: The two men stand across the room from each other, staring each other into the eye

You have been developing this treatment over a number of days and it now seems to offer a strong narrative of the 'rites of passage' genre in which a young person seeks to fulfill himself despite obstacles put in his way.
ReplyDeleteYou will need to tackle casting issues (the physio) and mise-en-scene challenges (football matches, trials, grounds). Can you handle that?
